The South Bruce Community is preparing to take part in a 2024 referendum about its willingness to host the deep geological repository for used nuclear fuel, and a recent community survey was undertaken presented by Deloitte.
Key findings of the survey conducted July 10th to August 11th include 97% being a least somewhat familiar with the project, and 88% saying they would definitely vote in the referendum.
As well three quarters agreed that the Municipality had done a sufficient job informing the public about the project and 62% saying they believed South Bruce was taking the right action to meet future needs of the community and placed a high priority on a progressive & growing economy and the proposed Nuclear Waste Management Project.
The survey had 198 valid submissions from the community.
