Southampton Rotary Club see work start on ,000 water project in Guatemala

The Southampton Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Rotary Hands Up program, announced that work has started this week on a just under $55,000 water project in Guatemala.

The project was made possible by the global grant of $34,000 from the Rotary Foundation that the club has been working on for the past 18 months.

The Hand Up Clubs have contributed the remaining just over $20,000 to the project of which $2,00 was donated locally.

The project will see the installation of 8 rainwater harvesters in the remote highland village of Tuilam, during the fall of 2023.

It will not only provide a supplemental water source for the 490 residents of the area but also alleviate the burden of fetching water from a spring located around 1 kilometer away down a steel hill from the village.
