Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau has chosen to delegate the authorities under Strong Mayor Powers.
These powers allow heads of council to propose bylaws and pass them with support of one third of councilors, veto bylaws as well as hire and fire department heads but was widely criticized by council members during a meeting last week.
This delegate of specific authorities back to council and the chief administrative officer.
The decisions made include;
Mayor Charbonneau says he trusts in council’s leadership and he is confident in the expertise of the CAO, management and staff.
Mayor Charbonneau emphasized these actions reflect a leadership style grounded in cooperation and a strong belief in the ability of both council and staff to guide the community forward.
