The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority continues to monitor rising water levels across the Saugeen watershed given the increased weather, rainfall and melting snow to drive the annual spring freshet.
While spring flooding is regular across Ontario watersheds, the way rivers respond is shaped by the health of the landscape around them.
Over the last several days, rainfall and snowmelt has produced significant increases in water levels across many rivers and streams in the Saugeen watershed.
Erik Downing, General Manager, Secretary-Treasurer of the Conservation Authority says Through local monitoring, conservation land management, and regulating development, SVCA works to monitor and protect the natural systems that store and slow water.
