Heading into the long weekend, OPP are urging drivers to take the time to be safe while out and about.
To date 269 lives have been lost across OPP patrolled roadways this year.
Police say the majority of these deaths were preventable resulting from poor decisions and careless behaviors behind the wheel as drivers, passengers and pedestrians continue to be impacted by distracted driving, impairment, fatigue and failure to wear a seat belt.
A long weekend safety campaign has kicked off dubbed Operation Impact with a focus this weekend on high risk driving behaviors which contribute to serious collisions.
