Thompson is re-elected in Huron Bruce, Tories once again form majority government

Lisa Thompson will be back at Queen’s Park.

Voters in Huron-Bruce have re-elected Thompson in Thursday’s provincial election.

This is the fourth time that Thompson has won the seat for the Progressive Conservatives who will once again form a majority government led by Doug Ford.

She says it is something that she doesn’t take for granted.

Thompson was the Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs when the government dissolved in April.

She says she will wait to hear from her leader as to what portfolio she will be assigned to.

Thompson won by more than 15,000 votes (as of 11 PM Thursday night) over the Liberal’s Shelley Blackmore with Laurie Hazzard of the NDP a close third.

Neighbouring ridings also went blue.

Rick Byers retained the seat in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, Monte McNaughton won in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, and Matthew Rae captured the seat in Perth-Wellington.
