Thompson, Oosterhoff Announce New Energy Efficiency Program

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was joined with Ontario Associate Energy Minister Sam Oosterhoof on Thursday in Tiverton where a new energy efficiency program was unveiled to help save homeowners money.

The Home Renovation Savings Program is part of a $10.9 billion 12 year investment in energy efficiency which will launch on January 28th offering rebates of up to 30 percent for home energy efficiency renovations and improvements.

Minister Oosterhoff says with this new program, they’ll be able to quickly get the funds out to those who apply.

“We’ve committed to 60 days for people getting their funds after their application is approved so they are not out of pocket for a very long time waiting for months or even years for that cash to come back.” Oosterhoff

The renovations and improvements can include new windows, doors, insulation, air sealing, smart thermostats and heat pumps.

The program is expected to expand later this year to include rebates for energy efficient appliances such as fridges and freezers.
