The Town of Hanover Council recently passed a “Buy Canadian” resolution at it’s most recent Council meeting on Tuesday.
The move comes in response to the significant challenge that will impact local, provincial, and national economies with the realities of a potential tariff on Canadian goods by the US.
The resolution includes supporting federal, provincial and local “Buy Canadian” initiates where possible, requesting federal and provincial government collaboration with municipalities, calling on the removal of any impediments to municipalities preferring to engage Canadian companies for capital projects and supplies and communicating the resolution to PM Trudeau, Premier Ford, the Association of Municipalities, Federation of Canadian Municipalities and all local municipalities.
Mayor Paterson says the move was necessary for resiliency to maintain jobs, stabilize prices and strengthen the local economy.
