Groundhog Day is starting off with a bang in South Bruce Peninsula, as the town has released the schedule for its Wiarton Willie Festival.
The Feb. 2 event that honours the local weather-prognosticating rodent will begin with fireworks at 7 a.m. at Bluewater Park. Willie’s forecast on the duration of winter will come at 8:07 a.m. in the Wiarton Arena Parking Lot.
Then on the Saturday, the town will host a free community festival from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in Bluewater Park.
Festival events will include trackless train, axe throwing trailer, Game Asylum video gaming trailer, human foosball arena, full court press basketball and boom blasters.
