Unemployment Rate Increases Slightly Last Month

The unemployment rate across the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region increased by 0.4 percentage points last month to 2.8 per cent after a drop for 5 straight months.

Monthly numbers from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board showed the regions overall population increased 400 in July with the labour force increasing by 4700.

There was an increase in the goods producing sector by 4.7 per cent with other gains seen in agriculture, utilities and construction.

There were losses last month in forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying and oil and gas.
