United Way Bruce Grey says the rising cost of living is forcing low income residents into crisis.
Demand for support has increased greatly with January and February 2025 United Way provided $5500 in utility support and in the same time period this year, that number has jumped to $23,250 an increase of more than 300 per cent.
A representative from United Way Bruce Grey says people are deciding between rent and food, heat and medication and nobody should have to make those choices.
The organization is also seeing more first time clients, including former donours and individuals facing sudden financial hardship due to life changes such as loss of income.
