Brockton Council voted to repeal the by-law establishing the BIA on Tuesday.
Clerk Fiona Hamilton tells the Shoreline Classics that the reason for the dissolution of the Walkerton BIA is because of a lack of staff, including a manager, and an inability to fill the number of vacancies on the board.
Council felt instead of taking a levy, the approximately 175 members of the BIA will instead be able to freely promote their business and events on their own.
Council has also agreed to take $6,000 from the tourism budget to be used to support the Christmas Market event.
