Walkerton District Community School saw the grand opening of the Riverhawk Nest Café recently in its Cafeteria.
The café is being run by students in the Developmental Learning program.
It is a place where students learn the skills needed to run a small business and practice customer service, money collection, and safe food handling while baking food items such as brownies, rice crispy squares, muffins and cookies to sell.
The café will run in the afternoons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays for the rest of the school year.
The students saw great success with its grand opening and thanked the staff and students of the school who have supported them.
