The Grey Bruce Health Services celebrated the grand opening of the renovated Emergency Department at the Wiarton Hospital on Wednesday.
The changes included two new examination rooms, improvements in lighting, signage as well as making it easier for patients to move through the facility.
The Wiarton ED provides urgent care for around 13,000 patients per year and the renovations follow the facility remaining relatively unchanged since it was built in the mid 90’s.
The cost of the renovations were around $500,000 and it saw the Town of South Bruce Peninsula chip in $50,000 with a cheque presentation to GBHS President Gary Sims from Mayor Garry Michi.
