United Way Bruce Grey is reminding residents the winter disconnection moratorium has ended in Ontario.
United Way says as this time already they have already received a high volume of calls with phones ringing off the hook from those getting disconnection notices to take effect next week.
Customers who are at risk of disconnection are asked to contact the Leap Program if you’re a Hydro One customer while Westario customers should reach out to Bruce County Housing.
Executive Director of United Way Bruce Grey, Francesca Dobbyn says last year they stretched to meet demand, providing $55,000 more in utility support than they have available this year, resulting in a $42,000 deficit for United Way in 2025 and they cannot take on that level of financial risk again.
