World GIS Day Celebrating Across Grey and Bruce

Nearly 300 grade 7 and 8 students in Grey and Bruce County all took part in celebrating World Geographic Information Systems Day who showcased their work in the annual GIS Day StoryMap Contest.

Using GIS technology 298 students across eight schools tackled real world issues in the community with 76 projects submitted which combined research, mapping and multimedia storytelling.

Always celebrated on the third Wednesday in November, GIS Day looks at the scientific framework of gathering, analyzing and visualizing geographic data used in everything from business and government planning to everyday navigation.
