Multiple arrests have been made and $137,000 worth of stolen property has been recovered in Grey and Bruce County.
Since spring, a series of break and enters have occurred with the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit responding with investigation into suspects believed to be responsible for the break ins.
On June 22nd OPP located multiple suspects in a stolen pick up full of stolen goods while towing a stolen trailer on 5th Line.
Two were arrested without incident while a third tried to flee but was arrested.
On June 23rd multiple OPP units executed a total of five search warrants. 6 suspects were arrested.
John MICKS, 35-years-old, of Ceylon
Charged with:
- Operation While Prohibited (5 counts)
- Flight from Police (2 counts)
- Dangerous Operation
- Failure to Stop After Accident
- Break and Enter (5 counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (13 counts)
- Theft Over $5,000 (10 counts)
- Theft of Motor Vehicle (8 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (6 counts)
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (6 counts)
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There Was a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order (3 counts)
- Failure to Comply with Release Order (3 counts)
John MICKS was arrested on June 22, 2026, and was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. He was remanded into custody.
Alex FRIEST, 39-years-old, of Grey Highlands
Charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (2 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (6 counts)
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There Was a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order (4 counts)
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
Alex FRIEST was arrested on June 22, 2026, and held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. He was subsequently released on a court order.

A 57 year old of Ceylon was charged with;

- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (5 counts)
A 54 year old of Ceylon was charged with;
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (7 counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (3 counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (5 counts)
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (5 counts)

Investigators have successfully identified and returned, or are in the process of returning, the majority of recovered property to its rightful owners.
