The results are in from Huron County OPP’s Canada Day Road Safety Week campaign, as officers laid a total 226 charges from June 25 to July 3.
Focusing on factors that lead to serious collisions, police handed out 164 charges for speeding, seven for driving without a seatbelt and one for impaired operation.
Police also investigated a total of 34 crashes during the campaign, including two fatal collisions: one in Exeter involving a 17-year-old and one in Hensall involving a 27-year-old.
