65 Year Old Charged After Fire in Georgian Bluffs

A 65 year old man is facing multiple charges after a fire investigation.

On August 24th at 6:12am, Grey Bruce OPP and the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department responded for a fire at a home on Berford Street in Georgian Bluffs.

The residents woke up to the fire alarm going off and saw smoke in the basement.

The fire was extinguished by the fire department with investigation underway by police.

The accused was seen on Bruce Street near a vehicle with incdeniary material.

The 65 year old of South Bruce Peninsula faces multiple charges including;

  • Uttering threats – cause death of bodily harm
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Arson – disregard for human life (two counts)
  • Possession incendiary material (two counts)
  • Mischief under $5000 (two counts)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
