The riding of Huron Bruce remains blue as incumbent Ben Lobb successfully retain the seat for the Tories.
Lobb won by more than 15,000 votes over Liberal James Rice taking over 51 percent of the vote.
This is his fifth consecutive election victory and says he does not take it for granted.
Lobb says his priorities for this coming term won’t change as there is still a need for infrastructure like water towers, sewers, and broadband internet.
In Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, Conservative Alex Ruff won by over 49 percent of the vote beating Anne Marie Watson of the Liberals by 14,000 votes.
Two other nearby ridings are also staying Conservative.
John Nader won in Perth-Wellington while Lianne Rood kept the seat in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
Despite the party winning last night’s federal election, Huron Bruce Liberal candidate James Rice finished second to Lobb and later apologized to his supporters for not winning the riding.
When asked about his political future, Rice says he is still waiting for the dust to settle before contemplating his next move.
The Liberals will again form a minority government.
Justin Trudeau who wasn’t expected to give a speech until noon today was on stage in Montreal speaking just before 1:30 am thanking Canadians who voted regardless of their choice of party ensuring their voices were heard.
Trudeau in his speech says he plans to deliver on things such as $10 a day child care, affordable housing for the middle class, continue to fight climate change and more.
“As Canadians, you’ve elected parliamentarians to deliver on all of this and our team, our government is ready. ” said Trudeau.
Conservative leader Erin O’Toole and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh both won their respective riding’s whilst Green party leader Annamie Paul and PPC leader Maxime Bernier failed to secure a seat in their home riding’s.
Despite a Liberal minority, the Conservative party won the popular vote.
