It has been 18 months since hockey fans in our region last saw a game live and in-person.

That ended on Friday night when the Provincial Junior Hockey League began their 2021-2022 season.

There were three games scheduled that evening: Mount Forest at Hanover, Wingham at Walkerton, and Mitchell at Kincardine.

In Kincardine, the Bulldogs gave their returning fans at the Davidson Centre a treat with a 4-3 victory over the Hawks.

Captain Bryce McFadden scored twice and added an assist for the Bulldogs.

Listen to Bulldogs head coach Todd Norman on the game and how excited it was to be back on the ice.

In Walkerton, a 5-point night including a hat trick for Kyle Stanbury as the Ironmen crushed the Hawks 9-2.
