A local group is looking to raise money to save an historic bridge in Goderich.

The Menesetung Bridge was first built in 1906 first as a railway bridge, now it serves as a pedestrian bridge connecting the Maitland trail with the Guelph to Goderich trail.

Chair of the Menesetung Bridge Association Grant Dawson says the bridge is need of repairs.

The cost to repair the bridge will be upwards of about $1.2 Million.

Dawson says the group has applied for an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant and hopes to cover the rest through fundraising.
