Plans to renovate Dunsmoor Park in Kincardine are being put on the shelf for the time being.

Council at last Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting agreed to a staff recommendation to defer the $40,000 that was budgeted for landscape architectural services, and that staff bring back more information including scope of work and cost for a waterfront feasibility study during 2022 budget deliberations.

Deputy Mayor Randy Roppel says work was to have been done to the bandshell and picnic area of the park.

Roppel believes the Municipality would be better off waiting for the report than to spend taxpayer’s money on two projects that may have to be moved.

Roppel says the removal of trees at the park were part of the renovations.

He says he understands many residents were upset by the decision to take down the trees and the lighting, but the Municipality plans on planting new trees and the lighting issue appears to have been addressed to the satisfaction of the residents.
