The Saugeen Rail Trail Association has some concerns over a decision by the Town of Saugeen Shores over allowing snowmobilers to use a portion of the rail trail.

The section in question is the where the Saugeen and Bruce County trails merge west of the Mill Creek pedestrian bridge.

The Saugeen Rail Trail Association made a delegation to Council last week and President Dela Avle says their concern is about safety on the trail and that there are other options.

Avle adds they would likely have to purchase additional insurance to cover the use of snowmobiles.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau says he understands their concerns.

The Town made an agreement with the Southampton Snowmobile Club in September.

Town staff will meet with the rail trail association this week to address their concerns.
