The Canadian Nuclear Workers Council issued a statement today to coincide with the COP26  Climate Change Summit occurring right now Glasgow, Scotland.

In it they say that Canada’s nuclear workforce has decades of experience with nuclear energy and know the significant benefits nuclear energy offers all of us and what will be required to achieve a net-zero future.

The statement follows the Canadian government outlining a plan for deep decarbonization that involve a significant amount of electrification across multiple sectors of the economy.

The Council says they need updated demand forecasting.

They say the scale of the task is daunting and requires collaboration with the government, industry and social society. COP26 continues until November 12th.
