An organizational restructuring is in the works at the Town of Saugeen Shores.
Council approved a staff report at Monday’s (8th) Committee of the Whole meeting that would see the number of departments reduced from 6 to 4 plus the Office of the Chief Administrator.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says the suggestions being made are to position the Town for growth.
The report comes as the Town saw their Director of Community Services and more recently their Fire Chief relocate to other municipalities.
Charbonneau thinks that is a coincidence and believes they will be able to find good people to fill those roles.
The restructuring is expected to take 2 years to roll out and will support 7 new positions to fill service gaps, if approved in the upcoming 2022 budget.
The motivation behind the change was a Municipal Services Delivery review led by Strategy Corp that has been underway since the Spring.
The full Municipal Service Delivery Review report is available at the Town’s website.
