Owen Sound Police have taken a large amount of illicit drugs off the streets.

They along with members of the drug unit and criminal investigations branch executed search warrants at two homes and four vehicles as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

One of the vehicles was stopped by police in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue East on Tuesday where a man was taken into custody.

Officers were able to seize 127 grams of fentanyl, 33 grams of methamphetamine, plus unknown quantities of cocaine, heroin, and oxycodone with a total street value of close to $64,975.

They say the amount of fentanyl seized would have produced over 1,200 lethal doses.

Police also found $7,000 in cash, and a taser.

A 45-year-old man from Owen Sound is facing charges stemming from this investigation as well as violating a release order on another drug trafficking charge.

He is being held until his next court appearance Friday in Owen Sound.
