The Huron Hospice just outside Clinton is asking people across Huron County to give and support the facility as it repairs water damage that has closed the residence.

The burst water pipe occurred on January 15th when a fire sprinkler pipe burst causing damage to two residence rooms, the kitchen, hallways and the great room.

It is expected that insurance will cover much of the cost of the repairs of the areas affected by water damage. The repairs include insulation and some of the flooring and paint in the affected areas.

The Board of Directors for the Hospice is making the appeal to the public to help pay for reasonable upgrades that go beyond what insurance covers. The Board has decided to replace all of the flooring throughout the house and re-paint the interior to give the home a fresh look.

The new floor will be water proof and much easier to clean.

Insurance is expected to cover $5,000 of the entire $15,000 cost.

Compass Minerals and the IODE Maple Leaf Chapter called shortly after the flood and each offered to pledge $2500, which covers half of their goal.

To contribute you can call Christopher Walker at the Huron Hospice at 519-525-7352 or online at huronhospice.ca.
