The Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation announced recently that they have received a $1 million dollar donate from the estate of a late Hanover resident.
The person, Mervyn Pfeffer, passed away in September at the age of 88, had named the foundation as the sole beneficiary of his estate.
Amy McKinnon, CEO of the Foundation says it will mean a lot for health care in the Region.
“This will mean so much to the hospital and local healthcare. The funds were not dedicated to a certain area so we will be able to designate it to the most high priority areas.”
The connection to the Hospital and Mervyn traces back they think to when he required emergency surgery after a fall.
His follow up care and recovery was in Owen Sound before he returned to Hanover. He was a longtime past donor to the Foundation as well.
