The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority have issued a water safety statement.

They say a stretch of mild temperatures and widespread rain over the next few days will eliminate any remaining snowpack through the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds.

They go on to say that while significant flooding is not expected at this time, water levels will likely be elevated for a prolonged period, possibly approaching or slightly exceeding bank-full conditions.

Residents are being reminded to exercise caution at all times near watercourses.

The water safety statement will remain in place until 4 Monday afternoon (21st).
