Bruce County announced today that the Ontario Superior Court of Justice through Justice Lemon has determined that the County must pay Laura Robinson and the Southampton Cultural Heritage Conservancy a fixed amount of $140,000 for legal costs.

The legal cost payment comes as a result of a January 31, 2022 ruling by Justice Lemon that Bruce County breached the restricted purpose of the charitable Bruce A. Krug Estate trust.

The County in the release says they accept the decision on legal cost payment related to the decision made on the County’s purchase of 254 High Street. They add they will continue to work toward a resolution with the Public Guardian and Trustee, and Estate Trustee, in this litigation.
