Construction is underway at the Kincardine hospital on a 2,000-square-foot addition to house a new CT scanner.

The addition will be located directly south of the main entrance, adjacent to the east side of the existing hospital building, and will include a private CT suite, technologist area, patient prep room, waiting space, change room, washroom and stretcher holding area.

After placing an order for a CT scanner in April of last year, the South Bruce Grey Health Centre was recently given the option to upgrade to a newer model at no additional cost.

Dr. Jason Murray says the new model will enhance patient care in the Emergency Department and inpatient units as well as for family medicine patients.

The CT scanner at the Kincardine hospital is expected to be operational in February 2023.
