Station Beach in Kincardine was home to the third stop of the 2022 Ontario Stand Up Paddle Surfing Series yesterday.

The sport is emerging around the globe. It traces its history as an ancient form of surfing. The popularization of the modern sport has its origins in the Hawaiian Island.

In the early 60’s the Beach Boys of Waikiki would stand on their long boards, paddle out with outrigger paddles, and take pictures of tourists learning to surf. The term “Beach Boy Surfing” is another name from which Stand Up Paddle Surfing originated from.

55 participants took part in the competition yesterday.

The next stop for the series is next weekend in Collingwood.
