The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh will be holding a public meeting later this month to discuss a proposed Development Charge By-law.

The charge would be the first of its kind in the township, allowing them to recover applicable costs from new builds and put the money back into public services.

The township ordered a background study into the charges last fall and received the report in June. Council can vote on the by-law after a 60 day public review process, meaning any date after September 13.

The public meeting will be held August 23 in council chambers.

Currently, the Township of ACW does not collect development charges. The development proposed charge for a single detached house is $8,930.
