Retired Brussels teacher gets Honorary Life Membership Award

Nancy Lawler received what the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario calls its highest form of recognition

A retired Brussels educator and union leader was awarded a 2022 Honorary Life Membership Award from the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO).

Nancy Lawler, who retired in 2019, recently received what the Federation calls its highest form of recognition.

Lawler began her teaching career in 1986 with the Grey County Board of Education (now Bluewater District School Board). She served as Bluewater Teacher Local president from 2003 to 2015.

Lawler was also elected the ETFO’s provincial Executive in 2011, and served as ETFO vice-president from 2015 to 2019.
