The Province is planning on extending the life of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station by one year and also investigating if there is a way to operate it for another 3 decades in order to meet energy demands in the future.

The Pickering Nuclear Station is reported to have provided 14% of what electricity the province used last year.

A study on the feasibility of a long-term extension is said to require complete refurbishment of the site.

The study is expected to completed next year.
