Campbell Bridge replacement clears environmental assessment

The Municipality of Kincardine has completed an environmental assessment for the replacement of the Campbell Bridge, and found no negative impacts to removing the over 50-year-old structure.

The single-lane bridge located on Concession 5, spanning the North Penetangore River, is in an advanced state of deterioration according to recent engineering inspections. Their report noted that the road approaches are quite steep and currently only meet a 60 km/hr design speed, making it a liability for the municipality as many people travel the road to get to the waste management facility.

The plan is to replace it in 2024-25 with a two lane beam-bridge. In order to complete the environmental screening process, the project team is now accepting public comments until Nov. 18.

Comments and concerns can be sent to Director of Infrastructure and Development Adam Weishar at aweishar@kincardine.ca.
