Two people were charged with drug trafficking and an estimated $58,000 worth of substances were seized last week after a lengthy investigation by the Grey Bruce Street Crimes Unit and nearby jurisdictions.

On Thursday, police conducted a traffic stop related to this investigation at the intersection of 16th Ave. and 16th St. in Owen Sound. They charged both occupants of the vehicle, a 40-year-old South Bruce Peninsula woman and a 63-year-old Wasaga Beach man, with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property.

OPP say as a result of the months-long investigation, officers seized approximately $58,400 worth of suspected controlled substances, and approximately $6,600 worth of offence-related property.

The accused are scheduled to appear in Owen Sound court at a later date.
