Saugeen First Nation is looking for six community members interested in joining their Community Safety Task Force.
The task force was launched in response to community concerns about the ongoing drug epidemic, which prompted local council to declare a state of emergency earlier this month.
They’re hoping to bring on an equal number of youth, adults and elders to the group, to ensure diverse representation.
Chief Conrad Ritchie says the task force had their first meeting last week and they’re seeking opportunities with other levels of government to help address the ongoing problem which introduces crime and violence to the community while contributing to the loss of lives.
Those who wish to apply should send their expression of interest to the Saugeen Band Office no later than Jan. 6.
