The Salvation Army is coming up short in its kettle campaign goal across the province.

Ontario’s goal for fundraising is short about $4.9 million with less than a week to Christmas Day.

The organization says more than half of Ontarians polled have faced food security challenges over the past year.

Officials say donations made to the kettle campaign stay local within each salvation location to provide services to food banks, breakfast programs, housing support, and care for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
