The Municipality of Kincardine says Boxing Day brings a long-awaited calm. The massive storm system pushing through the region over the past two days they say leaves in its wake massive drifts of snow and a ton of work for crews.
Both Municipal and County teams continue to work to make roads safer for travel. Checking road closures prior to travel is advised with links available at kincardine.ca/weather.
The reopening of roads they say does not mean work is complete as several roads are still in a state of repair. It is asked that motorists stay off roads unless it is absolutely essential to travel.
Chief Administrative Officer Jillene Bellchamber-Glazer says that their crews are now able to safely get out onto the roads and are working to clear all roadways. She adds they’ve been working tirelessly through the past two days and continue to do so. They say they cannot thank them enough.
Scheduled waste pickup-for the area has been moved to Friday, December 30th with recycling collection cancelled for today. Collection of that will be done on the next scheduled collection day and extra recycling materials should be bagged and placed besides the blue box for collection.
Community Emergency Management Coordinator/Fire Prevention Officer Shane Watson is again reminding home owners to clear around both vents and fire hydrants when clearing snow on their property.
