Huron County’s manager of planning says changes brought on by Bill 23 won’t require an update to their official plan, but it may need to be altered this year if more sweeping legislation is passed.
Denise Van Amersfoort told council the province has been clear more changes are coming, which may necessitate an update to the plan which was last amended in 2021.
She says most local municipalities are already in compliance with the changes brought on by the More Homes Built Faster Act, which mandates permitting a minimum of three units per residential lot serviced by municipal water and sewer and removes third party appeal rights for minor variance applications.
The Act will no longer require public meetings to be held for plans of subdivision or condominiums. Public notice will continue to be circulated for projects like that, and the people can still submit their comments to staff.
