Saugeen Shores sees $50,000 raised at its Coldest Night of the Year event at Coulter Parkette

Walkers raised $45,000 from their sponsors for the walk with Bruce Power kicking in the last $5,000 to bring it to $50,000.

The Saugeen Shores Coldest Night of the Year event was held this past weekend at Coulter Parkette in Port Elgin on Saturday.

Participants took part in either the 2 or 5 km walk all in support of the United Way Bruce – Grey – Saugeen Shores.

The event $50,000 raised in support of those in our community experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness.

Walkers raised $45,000 from their sponsors for the walk with Bruce Power kicking in the last $5,000 to bring it to $50,000.

Christine Mitchell Executive Director at the Saugeen Shores Chamber speaks to the energy of those involved.

“It was intense. We had a lot of people. Great energy. The Queens donated soups and chili for after the event. Everyone had a sweet treat to take home.”

Christine said there was also an inspiring Guest Speaker before the event by Natalie. She spoke of her experiences when she encountered homelessness.
