Grey Bruce OPP charge 14-year-old in Barrie with Uttering Threats Electronically against Area Teen

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a youth following an investigation of a matter involving electronic threats.

Police were contacted on Saturday, February 25th at around 1:37 pm by a concerned parent after their child received a series of threats to cause bodily harm through electronic messaging.

During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identity the sender who was a youth, and they were placed under arrest.

The 14-year-old from Barrie has been charged with uttering threats and is scheduled to appear at a later date at an Owen Sound court.

Police urge parents and caregivers to keep track of what their children are using their electronic devices for.

They add this is yet another occurrence involving messages that are criminal in nature.
