Huron County has applied for funding under a Federal Rapid Housing Initiative.
The program provides capital contributions toward the rapid construction of new housing and/or the acqusition of existing buildings for rehabilitation or conversion into permanent affordable housing.
The program administered by CMHC offers two streams of funding with the County eligible for the 1 billion dollar pool project stream funding and the other meant for cities and having half a billion set aside.
It priorities projects that support vulnerate people and populations and at least 25% of the money must go towards women-focused affording housing projects.
