Bruce County receives update on Primary Care Situation at Thursday Council Meeting

Bruce County Council received community at Thursday Morning’s Council meeting on the current critical shortage of Primary Care Providers from David Bradley from the Council on Aging Grey Bruce.

In the letter Bradley outlined that over ten thousand permanent residents are without a PCP and recent data  has the number Provincially over 100 thousand.

The causes indicated were retirements and it has meant Hospital ERs are now used like walk-in clinics with longer wait times to receive care.

Other issues include being treated by a different doctor each time they visit, lose ability for referrals, and in some cases where they have private benefits, they cannot process the claim because a PCP signature is required. B
