The Kincardine & Community Health Care Foundation is kicking off a fundraising campaign entitled “Building Heart Care for Generations” to fund an expansion to the hospital.

The reason for the $12 million dollar campaign is to pay for the local share of the South Bruce Grey Health Care Centre’s $65 million dollar Phase 1 Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project.

Capaign Co-Chair Kathryn Freimanis explains what the 12 million dollars would mean for healthcare locally.

“The expansion we are looking at will increase the emergency department, the diagnostic imaging area which includes the CT scanner,  as well as lab services, a big new reception area with a bit more privacy when you are checking in to the hospital. About a 250 percent increase in those areas. A good chunk of that money would be going to those areas, about 10 million dollars.”

Bruce Power has already stepped up in the campaign.

As well as the Municipalities of Kincardine and Township of Huron-Kinloss.

They are looking for other major donors as well to get them half way to their goal and then turn to the public to help fundraiser the rest.
