Grey Bruce Public Health reminds that with the return of warmer weather everyone should take steps to prevent tick bites and protect themselves from Lyme disease while enjoying the outdoors.

It is a potentially serious infection that can be transmitted to humans by the bit of a specific tick, the blacklegged or deer tick, that carries the bacteria.

They say to stay on cleared paths or trails, wear clothing that impedes ticks and use bug repellant with DEET or Icaridin while outdoors.
