The Municipality of Kincardine received the recommendations for recipients of the Community Investment Grants from the Investment Grants Evaluation Team at Monday’s Council Meeting.

The total budget available is $69,000 and was recommended to be allocated to organizations including $3000 to each of the Kincardine Scottish, Summer Music and Lighthouse Blues Festivals.

When it came to the $25,000 for Minor Sports Councillor Stewart’s question on why Minor Hockey were allotted such a high amount came down to the formula says staff.

“So there is a formula for sports funding. The formula is based on an 80/20 allocation. 80% based on facility costs, and 20% based on the number of participants.”

Council agreed that for next year’s Community Investment Grants the Sports Formula would be reviewed in time for any decision to be considered when sports teams calculate that year’s fees.
