OPP warns of Packages containing Sodium Nitrate Mailed to At Risk People in Ontario

The chemical is a food additive commonly found in processed meat and intentional consumption of it in excessive amounts can reduce oxygen-levels, impair breathing and can result in death.

The OPP is warning people about packages containing a potentially lethal substance, that may have been sent to individuals at risk of self-harm in communities across Ontario.

The packages contain sodium nitrate, which was being sold online and distributed by mail.

If you or someone in your home receives a package from  Imtime Cuisine, AmbuCa, Academic, Escape Mode or EscMode or ICemac contact police immediately.

Peel Regional Police have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for providing this product.
